Garcinia cambogia is one of the suspiciously similar Garcinia varieties through the plant family Guttiferae. It is a tropical region fruit that grown in Southeast Asia and African countries such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar. garcinia cambogia is also known as gambooge, Malabar tamarind, brindleberry, brindall berry, assam fruit, Garcinia gummi-gutta, vadakkan puli and kudam puli. Moreover in some region, it is simply known as “kattcha puli” (souring fruit).This fruit seem to be as like a small pumpkin and is green to pale yellow in color. But when it is ripens, the color is looks like red or yellowish fruit and the size almost an orange. The skin is lean and has deep vertical lobes. When they are dried, it looks like dark brown or black in color. The fruit has a sour taste and that is why it is used in different traditional dishes and condiments. It has also been used in the above countries as an ingredient for a variety of curries and chutneys for many years. Sometimes people used it as a medication for stomach troubles (for example In the Indian native Ayurvedic medicine). Some villages of Malaysia are used in soups to help hold back appetites and support weight loss. In 1960s, it is identified that it contains hydroxycitric acid, or HCA, which is beneficial for health.
Garcinia cambogia is recognized as reasonably safe and sound, having irregular minor side effects but lot of health and weight loss benefits.
